Ophelia Tours: Full Day Castle, Palace, Cathedral & Viking Ships

Ophelia Tours is a small Copenhagen company, Ophelia Tours ApS, and its Full-Day Tour of Castle, Palace, Cathedral and Viking Ships is the second castles day out of the city: Kronborg with a guide, two hours at Frederiksborg on your own, Roskilde Cathedral with a guide and, from April to September only, the Viking Ship Museum. On GetYourGuide it is from US$150 a person, rated 4.5 from 52 reviews (checked October 2026). That is a short record next to the 2,269 reviews of Hamlet Tours’ castles day, and it is the honest way to read the company: smaller, seasonal, and run by a driver who is also your guide. Its calendar is below; pick the version for your season.

One name, four seasons

The day is sold under one listing on GetYourGuide, Out of Copenhagen; 2x Castles, Cathedral and (Viking Ships), with the museum in brackets because it is not always in it. Ophelia Tours asks buyers to select the version for their date. On its own booking pages the versions are these:

Prices are Ophelia Tours’ own, in euros, from its booking pages in October 2026; it publishes no DKK price. Its own winter page also says the order of the stops can change with seasonal opening hours or private events, mainly at Kronborg and Roskilde Cathedral, so ask which way your date runs when you book.

Viator sells the two winter versions separately: the Castle, Palace and Cathedral Full-Day Winter Tour on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from October to December, plus Mondays in October and on 28 December, and the Full-Day Tour; Castle, Palace & Cathedral, Winter (JAN-MAR) on Wednesdays and Saturdays from January to March, both from US$208 in our October 2026 check and both starting at 09:00.

What the full day includes

Map of north-east Zealand: Kronborg at Helsingør, Frederiksborg in Hillerød and Roskilde Cathedral at the head of Roskilde Fjord, where the Viking Ship Museum and its Viking Ships are, with Copenhagen to the south-east — In the listings’ order, Ophelia Tours’ full day runs Kronborg, then Frederiksborg in Hillerød, then Roskilde Cathedral and, in summer, the Viking Ships on the fjord.

Pickup and drop-off. At hotels in central Copenhagen with room for a bus to park, and at the cruise terminals. There is no pickup at private flats or Airbnb lets, or around City Hall Square; pickup can begin up to 45 minutes before the tour’s start time.
Kronborg, guided, about an hour. The guide takes the group through Hamlet’s castle at Helsingør.
Hillerød, two hours. Frederiksborg on your own, and lunch in town, which is not included.
Roskilde Cathedral, guided. The burial church of the Danish kings and queens.
The Viking Ship Museum, April to September. On your own, at the end of the day in summer.
Entry, water and wifi. All entry tickets are included on the GetYourGuide listing.

It is a walking day: Ophelia Tours counts about 10,000 steps, up spiral stairs and over cobbles. It is not suitable for wheelchair users or children under five, and luggage cannot come on the bus. The guide and driver speak English only.

The cancellation rule to know: on every castle tour Ophelia Tours says departures with fewer than six bookings are likely to be cancelled, with a full refund and usually another date offered. Book it with a second free day in your trip. If you book with Ophelia Tours directly, its winter page gives these terms: free cancellation with a full refund until 09:00 CET the day before, and confirmation no later than three days before the tour date.

Mondays in November and December

The October-to-December version is listed for Mondays, but Kronborg is closed on Mondays in November and December 2026, and Ophelia Tours’ Viator calendar leaves those Mondays out. The exception is Monday 28 December, when Kronborg opens 10:00 to 16:00. Otherwise book a Wednesday, Friday or Saturday. Calendars were read in October 2026.

Ophelia Tours also runs two castle days at an easier pace, each dropping one stop, for travellers who walk slowly but can still manage stairs and cobbles:

The Easy Pace Tour of Kronborg and Frederiksborg drops Roskilde. It spends about two hours at Kronborg, with a guided visit, and around three hours in Hillerød for Frederiksborg and lunch, for at most 16 people. It counts about 6,000 steps. When we checked in October 2026, its first open date on GetYourGuide was 2 April 2027; on Viator it is sold as the Easy Tour: Kronborg Castle and Frederiksborg Palace.
The Big Easy Tour drops Kronborg instead: an hour and a half with a guide in Roskilde Cathedral, an hour and a half on your own at the Viking Ship Museum, then Frederiksborg. In our October 2026 check its first open date on GetYourGuide was 6 May 2027.
